After the roadshow’s first year, the Gerund show organizers all agreed that our slam team leaders should be capped at two consecutive years. This ensures a regular passing of the torch with intention and love, so the next poet can continue to light the way with fresh perspective. Each year the team votes for their leadership, and after two treasured years Nic Jean is so proud and honored to hand the mic to the new 2026 Dirty Gerund slam team lead:
You know her, you love her, you eat her dumplings. Known for her culinary passion, embroidery, and spunk – Bailey Magpie has been blessing our stage with poems and snack time with hot food since 2024. A dedicated and beloved poet around the region, she’s taken the slam scene by storm; some nights puting in double-duty competeing at Slam Adams in Boston then back to Worcester the same night to catch the second half of the Gerund. She’s already brought so much to the roadshow from our slams in Albany NY to Cambridge MA, we can’t wait to see what she brings next as the 2026 team captian.
The Dirty Gerund ‘roadshow’ has two sides: a poetry slam team and a pop-up style open mic. Learn more by clicking the roadshow tab on our website.

So the original leg of the roadshow is in great hands, and I’ll still be organizing our pop-ups, even if I can’t attend them myself. That said, I’ll only be on the road some of the time, so you will certainly still catch me most Mondays at the Gerund, and I would love to talk with you if there are questions you have for me to pack into my bag before I go.
