The Dirty Gerund Poetry Show has been invited to bring the ruckus to the Museum of Worcester ~ Thursday August 14th 5:30~7:30 (ALL AGES FREE) ; We will be hosting a classic Bonus Ruckus, Prompt n Circumstance, where poets will have been given an object that they will write a poem about ON that very object, in a showcase of some of regular purveyors alongside some new friends who want to get a taste of the sacrament!
🌟 While this goes on we will have TWO pre-selected poets go head to head in an Iron Poet Qualifier! What is this Iron Poet business?!
At the start of the open mic, two pre-selected poets will be called out and given a secret ingredient. These poets then head into their respective corners for the remainder of the showcase and take this ingredient to cook up THREE poems:
🌟ONE new haiku written on the spot
🌟ONE new original piece written on the spot
🌟INSERT that ingredient into an original poem they have already read on our stage before
Poets will then be judged by select audience members by a variety of categories as Mathdad tallies up the scores. Similar to a Slam, on a scale of 0-10, but nothing like a Slam (no strict rules, and tell me, how did that poem taste??)
What’s the secret ingredient?? It could be hot sauce, it could be Garfield, it could be any noun adjective or verb– chosen in secret by the venue staff and shared with Nark just before the show.
“Follow the Ruckus!” accompanies Museum of Worcester’s new exhibit The Poem Next Door, curated by Mapping Worcester in Poetry, which will be open for viewing at 5:30 pm before the program. This event is FREE as part of Museum of Worcester’s 150th anniversary.
We are excited for you to join us!!!
